The Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at SUNY Buffalo is seeking an outstanding physician leader to serve as Program Director (PD) for the Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program. This is a unique opportunity to lead a well-established, dually-accredited residency program dedicated to training compassionate, skilled, and versatile Med-Peds physicians.
The Program Director will oversee all aspects of program administration, curriculum development, accreditation, faculty engagement, resident recruitment, and educational innovation. The PD will serve as a key faculty leader within both the Departments of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, reporting to departmental chairs and the Designated Institutional Official (DIO).
Key Responsibilities:
The Program Director will oversee all aspects of program administration, curriculum development, accreditation, faculty engagement, resident recruitment, and educational innovation. The PD will serve as a key faculty leader within both the Departments of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, reporting to departmental chairs and the Designated Institutional Official (DIO).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership of the Med-Peds residency program in alignment with ACGME requirements.
- Design, implement, and continuously evaluate the educational curriculum and clinical training experiences.
- Recruit, mentor, and evaluate Med-Peds residents and core faculty.
- Foster a culture of inclusion, wellness, academic excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with leadership from Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, affiliated hospitals, and GME office.
- Ensure ongoing program accreditation and regulatory compliance.
- Participate in scholarly activity and represent the program at regional and national levels.

Minimum Qualifications
- MD, DO, or equivalent degree with board certification in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
- Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in New York State.
- At least 3–5 years of clinical experience post-residency.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching, mentoring, and leadership within graduate medical education.
- Familiarity with ACGME accreditation standards and requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as an Associate or Assistant Program Director.
- Record of scholarly activity in medical education or clinical research.
- Experience in curriculum design, evaluation, or quality improvement initiatives.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in medical education.
