This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Education Program Assistant 1 position for the Division of Extension and Engagement’s Extension Clatsop County Office with Oregon State University (OSU).
This Education Program Assistant 1 (EPA1) position is based at the Oregon State University Division of Extension and Engagement’s (division) Extension Service Clatsop County Office and will serve Clatsop County. This 4-H EPA1 is a member of the regional and statewide team of the OSU Extension 4-H Youth Development Program.
This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Education Program Assistant 1 position for the Division of Extension and Engagement’s Extension Clatsop County Office with Oregon State University (OSU).
This Education Program Assistant 1 (EPA1) position is based at the Oregon State University Division of Extension and Engagement’s (division) Extension Service Clatsop County Office and will serve Clatsop County. This 4-H EPA1 is a member of the regional and statewide team of the OSU Extension 4-H Youth Development Program.
This EPA1 works as a team member to plan and conduct activities that bring 4-H youth development to the community. This position has regular contact with the public to promote awareness and interest in 4-H programs, and engage the public as volunteers, participants, and partners.
The 4-H Education Program Assistant (EPA1) position collaborates with, and supports the efforts of, the 4-H faculty and program staff. This includes organizing and/or supporting specific 4-H events and training programs, providing office assistance to clientele, maintaining records and documentation (both physical and digital) of clubs, leaders and members involved in the 4-H program in Clatsop County, assisting with recruitment of members and volunteers, maintaining and carrying out the 4-H program in Clatsop County and other Extension programs as needed.

This individual will work with the managing 4-H faculty member to design, develop, maintain and/or carry out educational programming and outreach activities to serve broad and diverse populations in an accessible, inclusive, equitable, and socially just manner. This includes complying with civil rights and language/visual regulations.
About Extension 4-H Youth Development (4-H) Program:
The Division of Extension and Engagement’s Extension 4-H Youth Development Program provides young people with intentional, high-quality learning experiences that promote positive interactions with adults and peers, sustained and active participation across time, and opportunities to make meaningful contributions to the world around them. This mission is accomplished through the work of volunteers, youth, community members, and professionals who organize and conduct learning experiences in club, group, community, and family settings. Programs are implemented in a manner that is consistent with the best practices in the field of youth development and respectful of local norms and culture.
4-H faculty (academic and professional) and staff teach, develop materials, coordinate digital outreach activities and provide administrative oversight to a broad array of programs through out-of-school, after-school, in-school, and camping programming. This position oversees all 4-H programming and assists the 4-H faculty (academic and professional) who supervises volunteers with expertise in project areas (e.g., health, outdoor adventures, livestock, shooting sports, leadership, civic engagement, and robotics). Some 4-H experiences involve travel and overnight accommodations. 4-H faculty (academic and professional) are required to assure compliance with Federal and State regulations related to youth protection, fund-raising, taxation, and the nonprofit status of 4-H and affiliated organizations. What We Require
High School Diploma or equivalent and at least two years of relevant experience (paid or volunteer), supporting community programs that serve children, youth, or adults
OR Associate Degree and one year of work experience (paid or volunteer) which must be working in youth development programs, adult education, teaching, program delivery or related functions
AND
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated skill to work with diverse audiences.
Demonstrated skill to use computers for word processing, data management, and communications.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Experience (paid or volunteer) organizing, managing, delivering or supporting educational programs for youth and/or adults.
- Experience (paid or volunteer) with Extension and/or Extension 4-H Youth Development, other youth development, or other agency functions related to this position.
- Experience utilizing databases or other data management software.
- Experience (paid or volunteer) with animal science programs.
- Ability to deliver pre-approved non-credit curriculum and programs.
- Ability to develop printed or digital media (such as newsletters or web content) that reach broad and diverse audiences.
- Ability to incorporate use of web, social media, newsletter or other digital technologies in program development or outreach activities to achieve goals.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
- Flexibility to work non-standard schedule: evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight stays may be required based on programming needs, coordinating with supervisor to adapt work schedule to address community programming needs.
- Access to a vehicle is necessary as duties will require travel/driving throughout Clatsop County to support and deliver non-credit programming and services. Business mileage will be reimbursed based on OSU Policies. For information on vehicle use: https://risk.oregonstate.edu/vehicles.
- Ability to transport (lift/carry/push/pull) up to 30 lbs. of program materials and equipment, and to maneuver across rugged terrain (such as outdoor camps, fair, etc.).
- Position duties will include working in a variety of environments including professional offices, county fairs, and outdoors. Some activities will occur in field locations, at youth camps, fairgrounds, etc.
- Fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic work environments can be expected.
